Charlotte could be home to “Trump”?

So is “the Donald” planning to buy Charlotte, it’s the top of the news today, or so says the Charlotte Observer! Maybe just a few blocks of downtown for an office tower, luxury condo’s and more and more. (Only 26 new condo towers being build in the downtown loop) It’s just proof that Charlotte has hit the radar everywhere, not just the regular folks like you and me, but the big money wants in on our great city also. I’ve only lived here most of my life, except for the couple years in Raleigh at NCSU, so things today have a different feel then that first trip downtown in 1968. I only wish I had some pictures to show you how things have changed, boy you can’t believe the differences since then. I worked downtown at Lapointe Chevy-Honda in the late 70’s. It was at the corner of Trade and Davidson, we parked our new cars where the Federal Reserve is today, what a change. Our overflow lot is now part of the Bobcats arena. It just amazes me! You will love downtown, looks a lot like some parts of Manhattan, just a few blocks up and down Tryon are very classy just like in the movies. Quite a change for this country boy from 45 miles up the road in Alexander County (Stony Point).

South Park

The South Park district is located near the south end of Charlotte, centered at the intersection of Fairview and Sharon Roads. It has developed its own identity as a complete neighborhood for quality living, work and entertainment. Some of the characteristics making South Park so desirable for home buyers include: a moderately high density of office space, quaint and quiet neighborhoods, an exciting selection of high-end housing and excellent shopping opportunities.

Anchored by South Park Mall, the South Park district is considered one of the premier retail centers in the entire South. The Mall is complemented by several, smaller shopping areas: Phillips Place with its upscale shops and movie theater, Sharon Corners with great restaurants, a bookstore, clothing stores and coffee
shop, Morrocroft Village with a restaurant, bookstore, bank, clothiers and grocer and the Specialty Shops of the Park with its hotel and boutiques.

South Park also hosts the Charlotte Symphony’s Summer Pops series. These free concerts bring Charlotte together every summer Sunday evening at the neighborhood amphitheater. Nearby recreational sites include the Harris YMCA, the greenways at McMullen and Lower McAlpine Creek and Park Road Park. Resident families also benefit from South Park’s wide range of educational options. From kindergarten through high school, students have rich opportunities via the public school system or can attend private schools. There are also several higher learning institutions within the immediate area, including public and private universities and community colleges.
