Davidson
Thursday, June 28th, 2007Davidson is a quaint town located in the foothills region of Mecklenburg County, 20 miles north of Charlotte. This community is adjacent to Lake Norman and home to Davidson College, one of the nation’s top liberal arts institutions. The 8,600 residents enjoy their downtown with its beautiful homes, charming old-fashioned streets and relaxed pace. Bookstores, coffee houses, craft stores, restaurants, gift boutiques and antique shops are places to visit while strolling downtown. The moderate weather here allows residents to enjoy outdoor activities anytime. The rich mix of trees turn beautiful colors in the fall and the occasional winter snow delights children and adults alike. Bike lanes spiral throughout the town allowing resident and Charlotte cyclists to cruise both town and adjacent countryside year-round.
Davidson College has an outstanding performance art schedule and annual city events include Town Day and the Fourth of July celebrations. The parks and recreation department oversees facilities with ball fields and basketball courts, playgrounds, and picnic areas. Twenty-eight golf courses are located within 30 minutes of town and Lake Norman provides nearly unlimited water recreation. As expected in a small, college town, K-12 students have access to some of the finest schools in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School System. Although many residents commute to Charlotte for work, local industry provides employment in the following areas: education, health and social services, research, finance, insurance, leasing and manufacturing.
Real estate options consist of single-family detached homes for sale, estate properties, condominiums, townhouses and land lots. Community pride, great schools, lovely homes and abundant recreational opportunities give residents an excellent quality of life and make Davidson a wonderful place to call home.
